Required Workplace Notice for New COVID-19 Supplemental Paid Sick Leave
2.22.22
California Senate Bill 114---providing many employees COVID-19-related supplemental paid sick leave for 2022---is now in effect, applying to companies in California who have more than 25 employees. Employers must post a notice about paid sick leave that refers to the new COVID-related provisions, and English and Spanish language versions are available online.
As a reminder, the law is retroactive to January 1, 2022, and will remain in effect until September 30, 2022. Qualifying employers are required to provide up to 80 hours of COVID-19 Supplemental Paid Sick leave, with 40 of those hours available only when the employee or their family member tests positive for COVID-19. COVID-19 Supplemental Paid Sick Leave is in addition to regular paid sick leave. More information about this new law is available online here.
